Overview

TNI is working to increase homeownership in Trenton, foster neighborhood revitalization, activate public spaces, and ensure residents have safe, healthy places to call home.

Here’s how TNI is helping residents today:

Homebuyer Assistance Program (HAP)

TNI is partnering with New Jersey Community Capital’s Address Yourself program to offer affordable mortgages, accessible homebuyer and financial counseling, and down payment assistance of up to $20,000 to income-qualified buyers looking to own a home in Trenton.

For more information, visit the Address Yourself website or call 732.640.2061.

Home Improvement Program (HIP)

As part of Trenton Housing Authority’s (THA) Choice Neighborhoods project, THA, TNI, and Isles are collaborating to offer comprehensive home repairs, including facade improvements, lead remediation, weatherization, and health and safety upgrades, to income-qualified residents of the 600 and 700 blocks of MLK Boulevard in the TNI area. For more information, contact Jonathan Moore at 609.310.4667 or jmoore@tha-nj.org.

Improving Public Space

TNI is sponsoring minor improvements that add up to significant changes in our neighborhoods. Together with Isles, we installed ten Free Little Libraries throughout the TNI area. We also host regular community clean-ups and family-friendly events.

Strengthening Trenton's Housing System

We believe that Trenton residents deserve more housing options that are safe, beautiful, and affordable. That means not just building new housing units, but making sure our City has policies in place to create housing and neighborhoods that works for everyone.

Preventing Lead Poisoning

We’re working with partners like Isles, the East Trenton Collaborative, and Lead-Free NJ to Get the Lead Out of Trenton.
